Kala bhairava

KAALABHAIRAVA ASHTAMI 06.12.2012
We have some of the festivals that occurs during ashtami are Gokulaashtami, Durgaashtami, bheeshaashmtami and so on. Kaalabhairava ashtami occurs during karteeka masa krishna paksha ashtami . This is also termed as mahaadevaashtami and in panchangams it is stated like this only. This is the day bhairava avatara day.
The main meaning of this bhairava is to ward off the fears of all people and to create fear in those people who induce bad to others. The same bhairava is worshipped as bhairava in south india, annadaani in karnataka, bharon/bharathhiya/beroji in raajastan.
Bhairava appears to be in ugra swarupa in destroying the evils is being worshipped as graama devata/kaval deivam. He will save as from all the eight sides and being worshipped as ashta bhairavas. The sects following bhairava are called as kaalamuka, kaapaalika, aghora and so on.
The entire srushti is under the influence of kala/time. The bhairava is incarnation of Maha Deva and aatma sishya of mahadeva he reduces the force of ashtama sani, seven and half years sani and ardhaastama sani (i.e. sani transit in 8th house, 12th house, 1st house(rasi), second house, and fourth house to chandra rasi)
He will appear to us by wearing serpants as ear rings, bangles, anklets, and as upaveeta, wears tiger skin, having skull maala in neck, trisulam kapalam, paasam and damaruka as ayudam in hands with dog as vahana. Bhairava appears in many temples in yeesana side as nirvaana i.e. without any clothes having fire with jwala in upperside around his head , chandra vanka/pirai chandran in head and with two long teath.
The bhairava is one of the five sons to mahadeva, the others are ganesa, kumara, veerabhadra and saasta. The bhairava was initiated to kill the demon andhakaasura as a single entity from tatpurusha face and it became as eight and further to 64 finally killed the demon. The devas were very happy and gave 64 yogini devatas as wives to 64 bhairavas through marriage.
The kaala bhairava has plucked one head of bramha deva and subjected to bramha hatya dosha and after visiting various kshetras finally settled in varanasi as kala bhairava as kshetra palaka to varanasi. The same kalabhairava was instrumental during the daksha yagnya to punish those who are doing siva ninda.
The dhyana sloka is
RAKTA JWAALAAJATAADHARAM SASIDHARAM RAKTAANGA TEJOMAYAM
HAASTE SULA KAPAALA PAASA DAMARUM LOKASYA RAKSHAAKARAM
NIRVAANAM SUNAVAAHANANCHA ANANTAM KOLAAHALAM
VANDE BHUTA PISAACHANAATHA VATUKAM KSHETRASYAPAALAM SIVAM.
On this day we should observe upavasa and worship bhairava in the evening and observe jaagarana (without sleep) throughout night. By observing this vrata we will not get any obstacles in our endeavours. Apart from it marriage, house construction, employment obstacles will be warded off. The fear complex, debt problems will also get relieved. The neivadyam to be offered is of curd bath, honey, red banana, aval payasam(atukula payasam).
